MORNING LESSONS
With a maximum of 10 students per class, our morning classes, from beginner to advanced, are based on modern text books, supplemented by a variety of other material such as audio tapes, dvds, language games, newspapers and magazines. Our teachers are qualified and experienced; they use a communicative approach incorporating role play, drama, singing and discussions in their lessons. The four skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing are all thoroughly covered, but the emphasis is generally on oral communication.
Classes are open-ended so students may begin on any Monday, and are promoted to higher levels depending on their individual progress. New students are given a written and oral placement test so that they can be placed in the most suitable class.
ACTIVITY PROGRAMME
In the afternoons, students can take part in the Activity Programme. This is intended to supplement and enhance the morning classes.
Activities include both crafts and sports, and give students the opportunity to explore the environment and to meet local crafts people. Their activity teachers encourage them to practise conversational English in a variety of natural situations, where language is not the main focus. This is truly “Learning by Doing”.
GENERAL COURSE
This course combines the normal morning lessons with afternoon classes based on functional English, for a total of 21 hours classroom lessons per week. There is also an option to join our Activity Programme on Fridays: “General Plus” course.
EXAMINATION PREPARATION CLASSES
The school runs 6, 10 and 12 week examination preparation classes. Students (at least intermediate level) take the normal morning class and a special 2 hour afternoon class with a maximum of 6 students aimed at helping them pass IELTS or Cambridge First Certificate. ENGLISH PLUS SURFING
This is a 3 week course combining morning English lessons and afternoon surfing or bodyboarding lessons. See the Price list for more details.
PRIVATE LESSONS
Students may also choose private one-to-one lessons in the afternoons. These are individually prepared to the students’ needs.
SPECIAL INTEREST AFTERNOON COURSES
We can provide a quotation for individual students to combine morning classes with special interest afternoon classes. Examples are horse riding, NZ cooking, golf, or craft.
Full Time with Activities
This unique and popular course combines three hours of classroom lessons in the mornings, and a wonderful programme of afternoon activities designed to encourage and stimulate conversation in English
English Plus 3
This course offers our normal morning English classes and afternoon activities on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. Students will be free in the afternoons on Monday and Thursday.
General Course
Three hours of classroom lessons in the morning; 1.5 hours of classroom English in the afternoons - Monday to Thursday. This course offers an economical alternative for students who prefer the classroom for learning.
General Plus Course
This course combines our normal General Course with Friday afternoon activities.
Examination Preparation Course
Six, ten and twelve week courses to prepare students for the Cambridge First Certificate (FCE) and IELTS examinations.

Part Time Course
Three hours of high quality classroom lessons in the mornings, Monday to Friday.
English Plus Surfing
A three week course of morning classroom lessons and surfing or bodyboarding lessons in the afternoons, Monday to Thursday. On Friday afternoon students join the activity programme.
